We are proud to announce that Dr Peter Carey has been awarded an MBE in the Birthday Honours List, for “services to the disabled of South East Asia”. Peter has been recognized for his work in co-founding the Cambodia Trust.
Peter will receive his honour from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Spring investiture in 2011.
Peter co-founded the Cambodia Trust in 1989 with Stan Windass and John Pedler. “From the first the Trust has been a joint effort," said Peter in typically modest style. "We could never have got this far without the contribution of everyone involved in making the Trust the beacon it is today.”
“Peter has given the Cambodia Trust twenty-two years of unstinting leadership and vision,” explains Carson Harte, Cambodia Trust Executive Director. “He has played an instrumental role in the Cambodia Trust’s expansion across Cambodia into Timor Leste, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Philippines, We are very proud that Peter has been recognised with an MBE. This is also a recognition of the importance of our work in providing a helping hand out of poverty for people with disabilities in countries such as Cambodia.”
Congratulations Peter, from all the staff at the Trust!
