At CSPO, we are training staff from developing countries to be prosthetist-orthotists - specialists who prescribe and fit artificial limbs and orthopaedic braces (orthoses).
Our focus on training local staff to international standards is reducing reliance on expatriate expertise and helping to build sustainable, locally-run rehabilitation services for disabled people.
Sponsor a CSPO student and help make a lasting impact on the lives of disadvantaged disabled people in the developing world
96-97% of disabled people in the developing world have no access to
the rehabilitation services they need, such as prosthetics and
orthotics. (Souce: WHO)
By sponsoring a CSPO student you can help us to build local capacity and ensure that disabled people can access their rights to rehabilitation services.
Each trained prosthetist-orthotist can prescribe and fit around 270 limbs and braces every year. This means that your support will make a significant and long-term impact.
What it costs
£7,500 ($12,000 US) a year supports all the costs of training a student at CSPO.
Our
ISPO Category II accredited course takes 3 years. Sponsors receive
letters and reports once a year on the progress of the students they
are supporting. CSPO is currently training students from Cambodia,
Iraq, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, DPR Korea, Timor Leste, the Philippines
and Indonesia.
