Your support will help our local staff to make and fit prosthetic limbs and braces for people with disabilities.
People who use prosthetic limbs and orthoses (braces) include
- landmine survivors
- people who have lost limbs as a result of traffic accidents or diseases such as diabetes
- people affected by club foot, polio, cerebral palsy or leprosy
In Cambodia, there are an estmated 43,000 landmine survivors and 50,000 people affected by polio. There are at least 6,000 people in Timor Leste who need prostheses and orthoses, including many people affected by leprosy.
Where you donation will go
Your donation will support the work of our rehabilitation centres in Cambodia and Timor Leste. Each year our local staff make and fit around 2,000 limbs and braces. This area of our work is very difficult to fund. Limbs and braces wear out and need replacing every 6 months to 2 years. We need your help!
